Community Employment Services (CES)
Through our Community Employment Services, adults with disabilities are assisted with obtaining employment in the community. This assistance may come through training on skills that include how to identify employment opportunities, resume development, interview skills, and proper work attire. Eligible individuals also receive support following their employment through regular contact and further training from a job coach.
Funding
Most of our Community Employment Services are funded through Vocational Rehabilitation Services. Supported Employment Follow-Along may be provided by Vocational Rehabilitation Services or the Medicaid Developmental Disability, Autism, or Support Services Waivers.
Success Story: After 30 years at a local factory, the business closed and JH was out of a job. He was upset and under a lot of stress because he was unemployed. He had not completed high school, had poor reading skills, and limited math skills. He came to JRDS for assistance. The Community Employment Specialist assisted him in creating a resume and taught him some networking, interviewing and other job search skills. He had a few interviews and got another job on a part-time basis. Six months later he was laid off. However, with the skills he had obtained through the CES program, a good attitude and excellent attendance at his previous places of employment, he soon found a full-time job at another local industry. Even though he is no longer receiving services from JRDS, he stops by occasionally to let us know what's going on in his life and how much he likes his job!
